Introduction to making a Custom Victorinox 93mm Swiss Army Knife - Method 1
This is one method of reassembling your 93mm Alox with pivots and M2 screws. There are other methods that can be found elsewhere on line. This is dealing with metal parts and sharp tools, so suitable safety precautions must be taken if following this guide.
Follow this guide at your own risk, no responsibility shall be accepted for injury or damage to your property if you follow this guide.
This method works best for a maximum of three tool layers.
For reassembling your 93mm Alox using threaded pivots and M2 screws, you will need the following tools materials and resources:
1. Screwdriver: Ensure that it is compatible with the M2 screws you are using. A small precision screwdriver set may be helpful for this task.
2. Needle-nose pliers: These are useful for adjusting the alignment of the scales and layers, as well as for holding small components in place during assembly.
3. Soft cloth or pad: This will protect the knife's finish during assembly and can be used to wipe away fingerprints and debris.
4. Loctite or other thread-locking solution (optional): Applying a small amount of thread-locking solution to the threads of the M2 screws can help prevent them from loosening over time.
5. A clean, flat workspace with adequate lighting: Having a well-organized and well-lit workspace will make the assembly process easier and more efficient.
6. Consider wearing cut resistant gloves if you are new to modification for safety.

Step 1
Configuration Selection

a. Ensure you know what configuration you are going to build.
b. Ensure you have all of the correct parts or refer back to here for the model map.
c. If the tools have blades, consider taping the cutting edge to protect you from slips, or wear cut proof gloves.
Step 2
Prepare the Work Area

a. Lay out the disassembled parts on a clean, flat surface.
b. Arrange the parts in the order they will be assembled.
c. Ensure you have adequate lighting to see small details.
Step 3
Screw and Pivots

a. Apply a small amount of thread-locking solution (such as Loctite) to the threads of three of the M2 screws, if desired. (ideally only once you have fully assembled the knife and checked its function)
b. Screw in one of the M2 screws into each of the three pivots.
c. Don't over tighten as you may need to adjust later.
Step 4
Pivot Insertion

a. Insert the pivots through the pivot holes in rear Alox scales as shown in the picture.
b. Ensure the 2.5mm pivot is in the centre and the two 3mm pivots are through the outer holes
b. You can use some tape to stop the pivots falling out if you wish.
c. Lay the scale, with pivots on its back.
Step 5
Assemble the First Layer

a. Following the model maps, start assembling the layers.
b. Put the first spring on, threading through the central pivot.
c. Fit the first and second tools, the second tool might need pressure to snap the tool into place. You will then find that both tools are under pressure.
Note, if using certain materials for Scales or Liners, you might need to use washers to prevent unwanted rubbing.
Step 6
Fit the liner.

a. If the model requires, fit the first liner. Two of the pivots should line up fine, but use your small nose pliers to push the third pivot gently into place. This can take quite a bit of force, and watch your fingers, as a slip could cause you to cut yourself on one of the layers.
b. Finally, ensure the tool and liner are set in place correctly with no gaps.
Step 7
Repeat for further layers of the SAK

Attach the Front Scale

a. Line up the front scale with the centre pivot and either the top or bottom pivot.
b. Screw in two of the M2 screws, do not make them really tight.
c. Use either a vice, pliers or your hands to snap the scale into position for the final pivot. On larger layer 93mm, this can be quite difficult and requires some force. This can be quite disconcerting at first.
d. Screw the last screw in and tighten up, but again don't over tighten.

a. Check how tight each of the screws are, tighten if required.
b. Check the operation of each tool, first to check how tight the tools open or close.
c. Then check that the tools don't foul each other. This can happen if you have the wrong spring, or the spring round the wrong way, or if you have the wrong component e.g. spacer.
d. make any adjustments and if necessary add a very small amount of loctite.
